How should I divide my Udhiyah/Qurbani?
1/3 - 1/3 - 1/3
1/3 stays with you and your family to be eaten
1/3 is gifted to your friends, neighbours and relatives
1/3 should be given as charity to the poor who reside amongst you
What do I need to do?
It's very easy...
Purchase or have your Udhiyah/Qurbani delivered to yourself and separate it in 1kg bags (freeze it if you prefer, to preserve freshness).
Bring it to either of the venues as early as possible on Monday or Thursday and assist in distributing it to the people locally with your own hands, as per the Sunnah.
Where are the locations?
Two locations...
Oldham Unitarian Chapel, Connaught Street, Oldham OL1 1EU
10:30 am till 12pm, Monday 12th August
Oldham Baptist Church, 70-76 Brunswick St, Oldham OL1 1BT
11am till 1pm, Thursday 15th August
This is a Sunnah of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him.
It consists of 3 purposes:
- It shows that we as Muslims (ones who follow Islam) offer our very best in the way of our Lord, Creator and Provider.
- Udhiyah/Qurbani offers the Muslim the opportunity to value our families, friends, neighbours and the poor that reside in our localities.
- It creates humility in the heart of the believer, connecting them with their neighbours and creating self-evaluation and accountability.
